Kerry Washington ha rivelato che Wake Up Dead Man le ha fatto pensare al suo programma televisivo Scandal perché le piaceva far parte di nuovo di un cast corale.
L’attrice recita nell’ultimo giallo-omicidio di Rian Johnson Knives Out insieme a Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Andrew Scott, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin e Cailee Spaeny.
Durante un’apparizione sul podcast di Therapuss, Washington ha condiviso che essere di nuovo in un ensemble le ha ricordato i giorni dello scandalo.
“It’s so fun to be part of a movie like that, to be in a thriller, a mystery murder thriller, and to be part of an ensemble,” ha condiviso. “Like honestly, it gave me Scandal vibes, to be with a set of actors where… if you show up to do a Knives Out movie, you’re not looking to be the star. You’re like, I want to be part of a team of bada*s talented people who want to create something special together and that was how we always worked at Scandal.”
Spiegando ulteriormente il confronto, Washington ha continuato, “Like we didn’t compete for attention, we didn’t compete for press. We were so supportive of each other… We were so close and it was really fun to be in another ensemble like that again.”
L’attrice ha interpretato il ruolo di Olivia Pope nella serie thriller politica dal 2012 al 2019.
Wake Up Dead Man, il terzo capitolo della serie Knives Out, segue il detective Benoit Blanc interpretato da Craig mentre risolve una morte misteriosa all’interno di una comunità religiosa nello stato di New York.
Washington, che interpreta un avvocato tetro di nome Vera Draven, ha detto del film, “I feel so lucky to be in the Knives Out universe… This iteration of the film is a little darker, it’s a little bit like Gothic, in a way. It’s so cool. So smart and funny and gripping and there’s no way in hell you’ll guess the ending.”
Il film uscirà nelle sale cinematografiche il 29 novembre prima di debuttare su Netflix il 12 dicembre.
