Sophie Turner ha firmato per interpretare Lara Croft nella nuova serie TV di Tomb Raider.
Mercoledì, i produttori degli Amazon MGM Studios hanno annunciato che l’attrice di Game of Thrones interpreterà l’avventuriero-archeologo nel prossimo spettacolo Prime Video.
In una dichiarazione, Sophie ha affermato di essere entusiasta di seguire le orme di Angelina Jolie e Alicia Vikander nell’interpretare il popolare personaggio.
“I am thrilled beyond measure, to be playing Lara Croft. She’s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many – and I am giving everything I’ve got,” ha detto il 29enne. “They’re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can’t wait for you all to see what we have cooking.”
Lara è apparsa per la prima volta nella serie di videogiochi Tomb Raider nel 1996.
Angelina ha interpretato la protagonista nel film d’azione-avventura del 2001 Lara Croft: Tomb Raider e nel suo sequel del 2003, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life.
Nel frattempo, Alicia ha assunto il ruolo nel riavvio del 2018.
La produzione del nuovo progetto dovrebbe iniziare nel gennaio 2026.
La star di Fleabag Phoebe Waller-Bridge fungerà da creatrice, scrittrice, produttrice esecutiva e co-showrunner, mentre Jonathan Van Tulleken sarà regista e produttore esecutivo.
“I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team,” Phoebe esplose. “It’s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving. Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out… Croft is coming…”
