Lena Dunham si aprirà sugli anni in cui si è sentita lei “wouldn’t survive” nel suo nuovo libro di memorie.
Giovedì, l’attrice-scrittrice ha annunciato di aver scritto un libro intitolato Famesick, che uscirà il 14 aprile 2026.
Dopo la notizia, Lena ha condiviso un lungo post tramite Instagram in cui ha rivelato di aver iniziato a scrivere il libro di memorie appena 30 giorni dopo aver lasciato la riabilitazione nel 2018.
“I was in the cloud of delirium that comes with new sobriety – the world was suddenly so LOUD, and I thought that meant I knew what I was hearing,” ha esordito riferendosi alla sua cura per la dipendenza dalle benzodiazepine. “If you’d told me then that the writing process would take me through the next seven years, I probably would have ripped up my contract and chucked my laptop in the tub.”
Lena ha continuato sottolineando che Famesick si concentra sul decennio tra il 2010 e il 2020, il periodo durante il quale è diventata famosa per il suo programma HBO Girls.
Il libro approfondirà anche i suoi problemi di salute, inclusa la sua decisione di sottoporsi a un’isterectomia nel 2018 a causa di una grave endometriosi.
“When we finally set a publication date for Famesick, I felt something like grief. One of my steadiest companions was leaving. But it’s time,” ha continuato il 39enne. “And I’m so excited to be able to tell you, in the best way I know how, about; years of impossible magic and years I thought I wouldn’t survive; illness and addiction and heartbreak, (and) the lessons I no longer feel ashamed of having had to learn.”
In un riassunto pubblicato da Penguin Random House, l’editore ha descritto Famesick come a “rowdy, frank reflection on illness, fame, sex, and everything in between”.
Lena ha pubblicato il suo primo libro, una raccolta di saggi intitolata Not That Kind of Girl, nel 2014.
