Rachel Zegler ha descritto la risposta alla sua scena del balcone Evita come “overwhelming and really moving”.
L’attrice è attualmente protagonista come Eva Perón nella produzione di Evita del West End di Jamie Lloyd, che suona al London Palladium per una corsa limitata di 12 settimane.
In un’intervista con Elle, Rachel ha discusso della reazione del pubblico quando lascia il palco e si dirige verso il balcone del teatro per eseguire la canzone più amata del musical, Don’t Cry per me Argentina, al pubblico fuori.
“It’s brilliant,” L’attrice ha detto della scena. “The second Jamie said that’s what he was trying to get permission from Westminster Council to do, I said, ‘We need to do anything to make that possibility real.'”
Ha continuato, “But, as simple as it may seem, it’s a huge production as there (is) a lot of technology and hard work involved to show the theatre inside the Palladium.”
Mentre Rachel canta al pubblico dal balcone, il pubblico all’interno guarda la performance tramite un live streaming.
La star della storia del West Side ha quindi notato che, ogni notte, il pubblico applaude quando vede quante persone stanno aspettando fuori dal locale, come lo è “such a ridiculously impressive thing to pull off”.
“When we first performed it, it was just me in a robe and my wig to figure out the lighting and sound for the show,” Il 24enne ha ricordato. “The odd person would stop and take a picture, but the next day, it was 100 people, then 200 and it would double in size.”
Ha aggiunto, “It’s overwhelming but really moving.”
Evita ha aperto per le anteprime il 14 giugno e si concluderà il 6 settembre.
