Maria Shriver ha aperto la perdita e il dolore che ha sofferto dopo che il suo matrimonio si è rotto.
Nel suo nuovo libro I Am Maria – una raccolta di poesie e riflessi – Shriver ha rivelato che non era in grado di scendere dal pavimento della sua camera d’albergo dopo aver appreso l’infedeltà di suo marito Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“I was consumed with grief and wracked with confusion, anger, fear, sadness and anxiety. I was unsure now of who I was, where I belonged. Honestly, it was brutal, and I was terrified,” Shriver ha scritto in un estratto pubblicato da People.
“As I sat on my hotel room floor in the dark, alone with tears streaming down my face, I thought to myself: Maria, this doesn’t have to be the end of you,” ha aggiunto. “
La coppia è stata sposata per 25 anni. Nel 2011, Schwarzenegger ha ammesso di aver padre un bambino con uno dei suoi dipendenti. Mentre l’identità della donna misteriosa non è stata immediatamente resa pubblica, in seguito è stato rivelato che è stato Schwarzenegger e la governante di lunga data di Shriver, Mildred Baena.
“I made lots of mistakes,” Shriver ammette. “One of them was tying my self-worth to my achievements,” Scrive nel libro.
“Another big mistake was thinking that someone outside of me could guarantee my safety, my worth and my peace.”
