A $ AP Rocky era “coached” dalla sua co-protagonista Jeffrey Wright sul set del loro nuovo film più basso.
Il rapper e l’attore di Westworld star insieme a Denzel Washington nel film criminale neo-noir di Spike Lee, una reimmaginazione in lingua inglese degli alti e bassi di Akira Kurosawa.
Rocky, vero nome Rakim Mayers, ha rivelato di uscire con l’attore del casinò Royale in un trailer durante la produzione e la veterana star gli ha offerto consigli di recitazione.
“During Highest 2 Lowest, he was coaching me. I would do something, and he’d be like, ‘Nah, man, you got to do it like this,’ and ‘Say your line like that,'” Rocky ricordato a Variety. “We would just kick it in the trailer. He would tell me what books to read and show me the old-school s**t he used to be in. He’s just an OG like that.”
Secondo il musicista, Wright gli ha detto che il palco era il posto migliore per perfezionare la sua recitazione, ma Rocky non è pronto per un tale impegno.
“If I’m being totally honest, to be a better actor overall, theatre is the only way to do that. One of the best, wisest men told me that – Mr. Jeffrey Wright,” Ha condiviso. “I don’t think I’m ready. I gotta be in one place, and that’s a lot to commit to.”
Altrove nell’intervista, il 36enne ha dichiarato di essere un grande fan di Washington che ha dovuto sforzarsi di non farlo “fan out” alla sua presenza sul set.
“Trust me, it was difficult to not fan the f**k out every millisecond of the f**king duration. It was crazy – it’s f**king Denzel, man,” Ha scherzato. “I’m never going to be too big to be able to say that I had to hold my composure from not fanning out.”
Il più alto più basso, che segna il quarto ruolo di recitazione di Rocky, è stato presentato in anteprima al Festival del cinema di Cannes all’inizio di questa settimana.
