Cher ha rifiutato l’occasione per la guest star nella commedia TV di successo hack tre volte.
Il co-creatore dello show, il co-sceneggiatore, il co-regista e attore Paul W. Downs ha rivelato che volevano che il hitmaker credesse apparisse come se stessa nella serie, con Jean Smart come la conduttrice di Show di Talk trasformata in comica Deborah Vance.
“Well, one person in particular we asked to be on the show Seasons 1, 2 and 4 – and that person is Cher,” Downs ha detto in una recente apparizione su Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Downs, che interpreta il manager di Deborah, Jimmy, ha spiegato che i creatori hanno fatto di gran lunga per convincere Cher dopo che la squadra del cantante ha consigliato loro di menzionare il suo marchio di gelato Cherlato.
“So we wrote a commercial for Cherlato. Deborah (Jean Smart) was gonna go to the Cherlato factory, she was gonna taste all the Cherlato, she was gonna love the Cherlato, and then when it came down to shoot, we got a pass,” ha continuato.
“Now, people usually say, ‘I love the show, but respectfully, I don’t have time.’ Once, Javier Bardem said, ‘I cannot say yes right now,’ which is Spanish for ‘no.’ And so we said, ‘Is there any feedback? Can we change the script?’ And her manager said, ‘Well, this is the quote from Cher: I don’t want to do it.'”
La situazione è stata scritta nella serie mentre i personaggi continuano a cercare di ottenere Cher nel talk show a tarda notte di Deborah, ma rifiuta l’offerta.
L’attuale quarta stagione ha caratterizzato molti volti famosi che suonavano se stessi, tra cui Kimmel, Carol Burnett, Kristen Bell, Rosie O’Donnell, Seth Rogen, Kaia Gerber e Melissa Etheridge.
