Tom Cruise ha avuto “very serious conversations” su come fare un film sul suo personaggio di Thunder Tropic Les Grossman.
Il frequente collaboratore di Cruise, lo scrittore/regista Christopher McQuarrie, ha rivelato sul podcast Happy Sad confuso che sono “very serious” Informazioni su come fare un film su Grossman, il dirigente dello studio con la bocca sporca nella commedia del 2008.
“The conversations we’ve had about Les Grossman are so f**king funny,” McQuarrie ha detto. “(Cruise and I are) talking about it, we’re having very serious conversations about it, and how best to do it. It ultimately comes down to what that character is.”
McQuarrie ha condiviso che lui e Cruise parlavano spesso di Grossman e escogiono idee di scena mentre faceva la loro ultima missione: il film impossibile, l’ultima resa dei conti.
“We don’t even think about the structure, we play with scenes,” ha spiegato. “Just to be sitting at a breakfast table, not talking about the movie we’re making for a minute, is such decompression. And just riffing with Tom playing Les Grossman at the table, it was one of the real joys of making this movie. It was all the stuff we were doing, planning the future while slugging out the present.”
La commedia d’azione satirica, diretta e co-scritta da Ben Stiller, ha recitato Stiller, Jack Black e Robert Downey Jr. come attori che devono lottare per la sopravvivenza nel mezzo della giungla mentre giravano un film di guerra del Vietnam. Il produttore calvo e arrabbiato di Cruise Grossman, che sembra occasionalmente per gli ordini di abbaiare, ha finito per essere uno dei preferiti dai fan.
Durante l’intervista, McQuarrie ha aperto le loro altre collaborazioni, tra cui un sequel di Days of Thunder degli anni ’90 e Top Gun del 2022: Maverick.
A proposito dei loro piani, ha detto, “Everything is a priority, everything will – in one way or another – happen. It will not necessarily happen in the time or place you think it will. They’re all things we’re talking about, they’re all things we have ideas about.”
