Joey Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence e Andrew Lawrence sono diventati famosi usando un “nome fama” – e ora dicono di esserne pentiti.
Durante un panel degli anni ’90 con il Connecticut di venerdì, i Lawrence Brothers – il cui vero cognome è Mignogna – si riflettono sul sacrificio del loro nome di famiglia per andare avanti a Hollywood.
“Lawrence was my middle name,” Joey ha detto. “I was named after our dad, and our grandfather on our dad’s side.”
Decise di adottare il nome come cognome nei primi anni ’80 perché “it was like, no one can pronounce Mignogna. That’s not a name people will say.”
La star di Blossom ha aggiunto che probabilmente non avrebbe dovuto cambiare il suo nome se avesse iniziato ora.
“Today, things like that are celebrated,” ha detto. “In the ’80s, it was like, ‘We’re going to need to water this down. There are silent Gs.’ So they were like, ‘Let’s call him Joey Lawrence.’ So that’s just what they did.”
Matthew ha suggerito che anche i genitori del trio pensavano che i nomi teatrali avrebbero concesso ai fratelli un grado di anonimato.
“There was an insulation factor, where, before the internet, you could hide behind that at school,” L’attore di Dublfire ha detto.
“It would be very, very hard to find us. That was a great thing.”
Tutti e tre i fratelli hanno confermato che preferiscono il loro vero nome.
“It would have made it easier,” Andrew disse. “It’s really a pain in the butt, honestly, having two names. You have to prove you’re both people.”
