Stanley Tucci ha sostenuto una campagna che chiede a tutti i bambini delle scuole elementari del Regno Unito di imparare a cucinare.
Giovedì, l’attore candidato all’Oscar si è unito alle icone dell’industria alimentare, Prue Leith e Delia Smith, fuori dal Parlamento di Westminster, a Londra.
Il trio si è unito per promuovere una nuova iniziativa a Leiths, la scuola di cucina fondata dall’ex giudice di The Great British Bake Off, che offre una serie di risorse didattiche culinarie guidate da video alle scuole materne ed primarie gratuite in tutto il paese.
Riflettendo sul progetto, Tucci ha insistito sull’importanza che ogni bambino sappia cucinare un piatto da zero.
“Being a passionate foodie, I do try to instil the same passion in my children. So we cook together a lot and make sharing a meal as a family a priority. It does seem a failure of our education system that so many children are leaving school without the skills to cook delicious healthy meals from scratch,” ha commentato il conduttore Stanley Tucci: Alla ricerca dell’Italia. “When children don’t learn to cook, they miss out on basic skills but also on some of the greatest joys and pleasures of life. A passion for food and cooking, an understanding of ingredients and nutrition, they’re all essential to develop happy, independent, joyful, healthy children and future adults.”
Secondo un sondaggio condotto dal team della Leiths Education, il 75% degli alunni della scuola primaria non ricevono regolarmente lezioni di cucina.
E la leggendaria cuoca e conduttrice televisiva Delia ha sottolineato che è importante che le scuole dispongano delle risorse necessarie per insegnare ai bambini a cucinare già dai quattro anni.
“When a child learns to make a simple meal, they’re learning far more than a recipe,” ha condiviso l’84enne. “They’re learning about nutrition, about where food comes from, about self-sufficiency. They’re learning they can feed themselves properly, which is one of the most empowering things we can teach.”
