Rosamund Pike ha ricordato come si sentiva a “poignant” legame con la sua defunta nonna sul set del film del 2017, Hostiles.
Durante una recente intervista per Travel Secrets The Podcast, l’attrice Gone Girl ha descritto come sua nonna scozzese le diceva che aveva un angelo custode nativo americano quando era piccola.
“My Scottish grandmother, she never really travelled. She travelled a bit in Europe, but she never (went) to America,” cominciò. “But she always said this quite strange thing that she had a guardian angel who was a Native American. She’d often say, ‘Darling, my Native American will look after you.’ Quite unusual for a Scot.”
Rosamund ha continuato raccontando come pensava a sua nonna, morta di recente all’età di 96 anni, mentre stava girando il film drammatico western insieme a Christian Bale a Santa Fe, nel New Mexico. Il film è ambientato nel 1892 e segue un ufficiale di cavalleria dell’esercito americano che deve scortare un capo Cheyenne e la sua famiglia nel Montana.
E durante lo scatto un particolare “difficult and emotional” scena, Rosamund notò qualcosa in lontananza che interpretò come un suo segno “beloved” nonno.
“I was sort of thinking about my grandmother and her guardian angel, and I went out to this place and did this take of scrabbling in the earth and the burial,” ha continuato il 46enne. “And then, I looked up and there was a Scotch thistle right there. And I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s a Scottish thistle.’ And then I thought, ‘They must be indigenous to this part of world.’ And they’re not.”
Rosamund ha ammesso che vedere il cardo lo era “so weird”.
“The strange messages we get, maybe that’s what poignancy is?” chiese.
La star nominata all’Oscar è apparsa di recente sullo schermo nel film sulla rapina, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, ed è in post-produzione nel thriller d’azione di Guy Ritchie, In the Grey.
