Il compositore Hans Zimmer ha criticato gli organizzatori dei Golden Globes per aver tagliato la presentazione della migliore colonna sonora originale dalla sua trasmissione in diretta.
Il famoso compositore, noto per aver composto le colonne sonore di film come Il Re Leone, Il Gladiatore e Inception, ha parlato della decisione di presentare la categoria durante una pausa pubblicitaria.
“It feels a little bit ignorant,” ha detto a Deadline sul tappeto rosso. “We are the psychological underbelly of the whole thing.”
“This is a room filled with filmmakers who understand the mechanics and understand when I come home after working on a film, my children don’t know who I am because I haven’t been home for months,” ha continuato. “The composer has such an important role in making films by the time we come to the music, the director has been through war. Our first job is to remind him why he did this film in the first place.”
Quest’anno, Zimmer è stato nominato per la migliore colonna sonora originale per la F1 insieme ad Alexandre Desplat per Frankenstein, Max Richter per Hamnet, Jonny Greenwood per One Battle After Another, Ludwig Göransson per Sinners e Kangding Ray per Sirat.
L’attore di Stranger Things Joe Keery e la pop star Charli XCX hanno presentato la categoria, che alla fine è stata vinta da Göransson.
In un’intervista separata sul tappeto rosso con Variety, Zimmer ha detto che era un “shame” gli organizzatori del premio hanno deciso di non onorare il suo duro lavoro “friends”.
“I think the work should always be acknowledged,” ha affermato. “This year is a fantastic year for composers – don’t ignore them, you don’t have a movie without them.”
Il compositore tedesco ha poi trovato scherzosamente un lato positivo nella decisione e ha scherzato: “It means I don’t have to make an insane speech and embarrass humanity as we know it.”
